What Information We Collect

We collect basic information that you provide when making a booking. This usually includes your name, contact details, number of guests, and any special requests. If you book through a platform such as Airbnb, the platform may share booking-related details with us. We do not receive your full payment information, as this is handled by the platform or your payment provider.

Why We Collect It

We use your information only for purposes connected to your stay. This includes:

• managing and confirming your booking
• communicating with you before, during, and after your stay
• meeting local legal requirements such as guest registration
• ensuring the apartment is prepared and suitable for your visit

How Your Information Is Stored

Your information is stored securely and only for as long as needed for booking and legal purposes. We do not sell or share your personal data with external companies or advertisers.

Third-party services: If you book through platforms such as Airbnb or Booking.com, those platforms handle your payment and have their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their terms for full details. If cleaners or maintenance staff are scheduled, they may receive only the minimum information required to provide their service — for example, arrival time or length of stay.

Communication

We may contact you about booking details, arrival instructions, or relevant updates related to your stay. If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we may send occasional updates about Friedrichshain and Seumi Berlin. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Analytics & Cookies

This site uses the following analytics tools. Google Analytics 4 (G-4GZK9JCZ7Q, with Google Consent Mode v2) is activated only after you accept cookies. PostHog (product analytics: page views, page leave events) runs before you choose in a cookie-less memory mode that stores nothing on your device and keeps no persistent identifier; after you accept it may use local storage and cookies; if you decline, browser-side PostHog is switched off (the server-side diagnostics described under "Error diagnostics & booking-process records" continue). PostHog data is processed by PostHog Inc. on EU servers (eu.i.posthog.com).

We also initialise a Google Ads conversion tracking tag (ID: AW-18085003112). Conversions are imported from GA4 in the Google Ads dashboard. Advertising storage (ad_storage) is always disabled regardless of your cookie choice — no advertising cookies are set.

This site uses Vercel Analytics, a cookieless server-side analytics service that records anonymised page views at the CDN/edge layer (no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no client-side JavaScript). This operates on the basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): we have a legitimate interest in understanding aggregate site performance and monitoring uptime; this is proportionate because no personal profiles are created, no data is shared with advertisers, and data is not cross-correlated across users. Data is processed by Vercel Inc. under their Privacy Policy and DPA (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent) for Google Analytics and PostHog. Retention: GA4 data is retained for up to 14 months; PostHog per their standard retention policy. To withdraw consent, click the button below.

Booking & Payment Processors

When you book directly through this website, your booking data is processed by:

• Smoobu GmbH (Ackerstraße 76, 10115 Berlin) — our booking management platform. Receives your name, contact details, booking dates, and guest count. Data processor under Art. 28 GDPR. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract). See smoobu.com/privacy.
• Stripe, Inc. (South San Francisco, CA, USA) — payment processor for direct bookings. Receives your name, email, and payment card details. Stripe processes data in the USA under Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). See stripe.com/privacy. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract).
• Gmail / Google Workspace (Google LLC, Mountain View, CA, USA) — booking confirmation and host notification emails are sent via Gmail SMTP using our own Google Workspace account. Your name, email address, booking dates, and payment reference are transmitted through Google's mail infrastructure. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract). Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter via the sign-up form on this site, we collect your email address solely to send you occasional updates about Friedrichshain and Seumi Berlin. A double opt-in process is used: after submitting your email, you will receive a confirmation email and your subscription is only activated after you click the confirmation link. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your freely given, informed consent). Controller: Remy Schneider, Seumestraße 8, 10245 Berlin (seumi@vanderlore.de). Retention: your email address is retained for as long as you remain subscribed and is deleted within 30 days of unsubscription. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any newsletter email or by writing to seumi@vanderlore.de.

• Gmail / Google Workspace (Google LLC, USA) — used to send the confirmation email and host notification. Processed under Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). See policies.google.com/privacy.
• Brevo (Brevo SAS, 55 rue d'Amsterdam, 75008 Paris, France) — EU-based email marketing platform used to manage the subscriber list and send newsletter emails, if configured. Data processor under Art. 28 GDPR. Data stored in the EU. See brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy. A Data Processing Agreement is in place with Brevo.

Embedded Maps

The Berlin with Kids page includes an optional Google Maps embed. The map is only loaded when you click "Accept & Load Map" — before that, no data is sent to Google. When loaded, your IP address and browser headers are transmitted to Google LLC (USA). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your explicit, per-click consent).

Error diagnostics & booking-process records

To find and fix technical faults we record, without needing your consent: technical error details (message, page, browser type, screen size, time); the booking step you reached; the dates, number of guests, options (infant, dog) and discount code you selected; the result of each step (for example "dates unavailable"); and, for each form field, only whether it was filled, its length and whether it passed validation. These records are linked by a random identifier created for your visit and kept in your browser's session storage until you close the tab (no cookie, not linked to your identity). We do not record what you type into the form unless you have accepted cookies.

If you have accepted cookies, we additionally record the values you type into the name, email and phone fields so we can reproduce booking problems. Email and phone are masked (for example "pa***@gmail.com", "***487") and the "special requests" field is never recorded. You can withdraw consent with the button above.

When you submit a booking request, the details you entered are processed to handle your booking (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a working booking process and in security) for the technical records; Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent) for typed values. Retention: up to 12 months. Recipients: PostHog Inc. (EU servers, eu.i.posthog.com) and, for error alerts without guest-typed data, our operator via Telegram. The random identifier is also stored with your payment session at our payment provider (Stripe), so a paid booking can be matched to its steps. Discount codes you type are recorded as typed (also failed attempts). Technical error entries are additionally kept in our error log (the latest 100 entries, continuously overwritten).
