Why Friedrichshain is great for families
Friedrichshain has a reputation for nightlife, but it's also one of Berlin's most family-friendly neighbourhoods to actually live in — and to stay in. Several free playgrounds are within a 10-minute walk. The streets around Seumestraße are wide and calm. Boxhagener Platz, a 3-minute walk away, is a relaxed, tree-lined square where local families spend their weekend mornings.
The M13 tram stop is less than a minute from the apartment and connects directly to Warschauer Straße S-Bahn and the U5 — putting FEZ, Tierpark Berlin, and the rest of the city within easy reach with a pram or pushchair. No car needed for any of the day trips below.
In summer, three free water playgrounds (Plansche) are within easy walking distance. In winter, excellent indoor options — kids' cafés, museums, and climbing gyms — mean you're never stuck for ideas.
